Did You Know?

⭐ The United States is celebrating its 250th birthday only once in our lifetime. The last major milestone — the Bicentennial — was celebrated in 1976, nearly 50 years ago.
⭐ When the Declaration of Independence was adopted in 1776, there were only 13 states. Today, there are 50, representing more than 340 million Americans from every background imaginable.
⭐ One of the most recognizable symbols of America — the bald eagle — came dangerously close to disappearing. By the early 1960s, there were fewer than 500 nesting pairs left in the lower 48 states. Thanks to conservation efforts, there are now tens of thousands, making it one of the greatest wildlife recovery stories in history.
⭐ America's national motto, "In God We Trust," first appeared on U.S. coins during the Civil War in 1864, reflecting the nation's desire for hope and faith during one of its most difficult chapters.
⭐ The Liberty Bell has a crack that has become one of America's most famous imperfections. Rather than replacing it, our nation preserved it as a reminder that freedom itself has always required sacrifice, perseverance, and continual effort.

As we gather with family, friends, and neighbors this holiday weekend, let's remember those who helped build, protect, and preserve the freedoms we enjoy today.

From all of us at Cicero District 99, we wish you a safe, joyful, and memorable Independence Day.

Happy 4th of July — and Happy 250th Birthday, America!
